My name is Lori. I was born in Texarkana, TX, where I lived for 10 years then moved to Deer Park, FL where I was blessed to grow up on a 300,000+ acre ranch ~Deseret Cattle and Citrus~ from there to Indialantic Beach, FL, Vernal, UT and now in I live in Mesa, AZ. I have two talented, amazing boys that I’m very proud of.
My Mother says I can see possibilities that she cannot envision . . . . . she often says, “What are you going to do with THAT?” and sometimes I don’t know until I actually do it. I have a Furniture Restoration/Painting/Power Tool OBSESSION… which has evolved into a business. After months of thought (and asking anyone within earshot of me) I decided to go with my gut and name it, “Thee Velvet Glove”. I sell furniture and home decor items. To me the name symbolizes something that may be a little battered, broken or scraped up but has good bones and just needs a little tender loving care and pizzazz to bring it back to life. I rescue, restore, salvage and customize quality pieces and create one-of-a-kind, shabby/sleek style furniture and accessories you won’t see in furniture stores. I can also transform your flea market finds, outdated or ordinary pieces of furniture into something you fancy.
In the words of the baddest chic ever, “Imperfection is Beauty. Madness is Genius and it’s better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.”
I love the process… I’m inspired by many different periods, ranging from the style and opulence of Marie Antoinette and colors with a distinctly feminine feel to the Moulin Rouge rich saturated shades of pink, reds and purples coupled with black, brown, gold and bronze highlights. I adore Cottage Style, Distressed pieces, Rustic, French Provincial, French Country, Contemporary and Shabby Chic. Most of all I love the excitement of the finished product. I take extreme pride in my work and focus on every detail.
I would love to work with you designing the perfect piece or create one on my own after listening to your ideas. This can be done in person or via email, whichever is most convenient for you. Please view examples of my work….buffets, headboards, chairs, mirrors, dressers, desks, chest, tables, armories etc…. contact me what it is you are searching for….and I will make it happen. I can do simple or bold and colorful!
